    Default 1000 miles in a 2CV

The Cup weekend is a great chance to get out and see the country with some like minded Loony friends. This weekend was no exception with the Southern Highlands and East Gippsland echoing to the sounds of a few Minis in various states of tune (from standard to supercharged) with a 602cc 2 cylinder counterpoint.

We foregathered in Yackandandah for a pleasant luncheon, then travelled via all sorts of places and road conditions to end up for overnight stays at Batlow, Bateman's Bay and Lakes Entrance.

Gaston approached the trip with aplomb and it was an excellent introduction to the vagaries of 2CV travel.

We saw hills, valleys, dirt roads, lots of corners and torrential rain with humongous wind gusts.

    Just yer average trip!

Oh, and there's at least one other Loony out there who was travelling North towards Bateman's Bay in a blue 2CV. What are the chances? Anyone here?

Gaston returned around 45mpg in the old money, used only an abstemious sip of oil, and leaked in a genteel way when confronted with rain coming horizontally.

His gearbox sounds a bit "gravelly" to me but more experienced ears will be applied in the near future.

All up, 1000 miles door to door, lots of fun.

    Cheers, Pottsy.

    Fantastic news pottsy
Sounds like a perfect shakedown for New Zealand where you can test it further (evil smile)
