Mark, I have a high-resolution version of my avatar photo, featuring my 1959 DS19 and taken in 2007.

    Hi all,

I wanted to provide you all with an exciting update to our book - now entitled "Citroen DS : The Classic Car in Australia". The book has now gone to the printers and should be available in July!

This has evolved into a very substantial piece of work in a 280x280mm large format, hardcover, on high quality paper (with a dust jacket), with over 360 pages, more than 600 high quality images and well over 70,000 words.

It has been a labour of love putting this together and it contains a wide variety of information on sales, production history and motor sport as well as many personal accounts from owners and enthusiasts. It tells the tale from the uniquely Australian perspective, which is a story that has not really been comprehensively told before. It really has been a wonderful collaboration of effort across this great country of ours to put this together.

I will be able to share more details soon...!

    Kind regards,

    Mark

great news congratulations! curiously enough I was just then mosing around on the DS in Asia site, I bought Pierre James book created from his research, excellent book with some wit to boot, and wondering about your production! Hopefully the print run will allow it to be affordable! Any ideas on the price?

    Hi all,
Another small update on the book - we now have a flyer with information on how to pre-order! See below.
I would encourage you to get in early if you are interested - there is only a limited print run and when they are gone, they are gone....
    Kind regards,

    Hi all,
Just another update - Geoff and I have some more exciting news, the first sample copies of the book arrived this week!
It's certainly a lot different looking at the book on the PC compared to having something in your hand.
It's a very substantial volume and the quality of the pictures and printing have well exceeded our expectations.
Thank you very much to those who have chosen to pre-order a copy - Geoff has been bowled over by the demand with a significant portion of the print run already being pre-sold.
We are hoping the saleable copies will arrive in mid-July so I'd encourage anyone who may be interested in a copy to get in touch via [email protected] and place an order sooner rather than later.
By all means if you have any questions please get in touch!
    Kind regards,
    Mark

    G'day Geoff,
Not a technical story, but a funny one nevertheless.
Bought my D Special from Dita in late 2018. Steely did a bit of work on it mainly with the suspension hydraulics.
I decided to take the D to Katanning in WA last Easter on my car trailer.
I loaded it on at my house & we drove to Perth across the Nullabor.
When we arrived in Perth I wanted to take it off the car trailer & give it some fresh legs & a clean. Shock horror, I could not open the doors. I had forgotten that the suspension resceedes & lowers the car. The doors were now below the height of the trailer mudguards.
I devised a very cunning plan to overcome this situation. I found that I could open the doors about 6". If I drilled a hole a bit larger than the window winder knob in a long piece of wood, I would be able to wind a window down, squeeze in thru a window, start the car & raise the suspension, Pretty cool eh?
After releasing the tie down straps from the front wheels I was about to embark on my solution.
To my amazement my grandson (10 years old) was standing on the other side of the car with the drivers door open. The body had raised itself up enough to open the door,
    That is my funny story.

    Hi Guys,
My apologies re a lack of response from the email address.
Geoff is currently populating a list of requests for the book - I know he's been receiving plenty of requests however I'm not sure if he's receipting those requests via a return email.
I'll check with him and see what the story is.
Many thanks for letting us know - I should have a response shortly.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

Default The Citroen DS in Australia - a book in the making

    Hi all
    Just another update.
    The books have arrived!!!
Geoff has started working through the orders. A limited number will be available for sale at the Grand Display this weekend. You are most welcome to collect your copy there to save postage. It would help us enormously if you could let me know your going to pick one up (for numbers) either in the thread or via a pm. Also most importantly we can accept CASH ONLY at this stage. Geoff is only just gearing up for card payments and itís unclear it will be operational in time so cash is the safest option.
    Kind regards
    Mark
