    Default C5 front disc rotors

    I have a second nose C5 .. diesel 6 speed.
When researching online for replacement front discs two sizes are available...one is 288mm in diameter and 28mm thick and the more common size sold online is 283mm in diameter and only 26mm thick.
Service Citroen show my vehicle has the 288mm diameter 28mm thick variety ... which it DOES have.
Online catalog listings from the major Australian suppliers, and online suppliers are confusing and even wrong.
Listings suggest there is a difference between the smaller petrol engined cars and SOME of the 2 litre diesels.
It seems ALL the 2.2s and V6 petrols are fitted with the larger 288mm diameter discs however.

The fatter rotors have a REPLACEMENT thickness of 26mm. My concern is that while the lesser diameter ( it is only 5mm ....2.5mm larger than the edge of the pads ??? ) START at 26mm what are the implications when they become worn ?

The "hat" dimensions and wheel hole placements, the hub details, are identical in both rotor types.
So what to do ? I suspect my local aftermarket supplier will sell the 283mm variety only .. and does it make any difference anyway.

    Discuss.....that is DISCUSS not discus.

From memory, the front discs on S1 4 cylinders are a smaller diameter to the V6 and they were all upgraded to the larger diameter of the V6 wit the 2005 facelift. You can check this by VIN in the online Citroen parts system.

The mechanics handbook for 2005 shows 283mm with 26/24mm max/min thickness --or-- 288mm with 28/26mm max/min. You should have 288mm discs.

On my c5 I tried aftermarket rotors and found even though they had more meat than the original ones ie pad to vent area was greater the vent area was inadequate and caused warping really quickly I also fitted some to a 508 customers car and same thing happened they were about 120 each so not happy I put so original s/h ones on and have been fine

    Yes David,
Both Service Citroen, and eyeball and micrometer confirm the 288 and 28mm are the current fitments.
I am just being greedy ! The online suppliers have 283mm local supplies that are slotted and drilled...
The poser in me coming out.

Don't get drilled. Prone to cracking!
