Default C5 X7 Sedan boot struts

    Hi all,

The boot of my 2008 X7 sedan has become a little heavy to open. When fully open it stays in place but I suspect the struts need a re gas or replacing.
To get to the struts, it looks like I have to fully remove the inner boot lining.

Has anyone on the forum had to do this?
Any tricks, advice and diagrams welcome.

There is a previous thread on C5 wagon tailgate struts by Pottsy that is very good.

Your sedan would be a lot easier to gain access to the struts than the wagon.

Nevertheless, subject to the status os your struts it may be possible to regas your struts.

Pull them out and take them to a Gas Struts repairer, They'll test them and will advise if regassable. They will only regass if OK as they (have to?) provide a 12 month guarantee. Not sure if there is one in Bathurst, but check where they are in Sydney so next time you could drop in. It does not take long.

    Regards,

    John

    Thanks John,
Should be a lot easier than the wagon. Had the 2004 Estate struts done in Sydney last year when it was at Colliers for a service.
Still, in their effort to make things look neat and tidy, Citroen have given me a lot of trim to remove in the sedan to gain access to the struts.
My plan is, (when I get the time) to remove the trim.
Check that both struts are still attached correctly.
Remove them and get them re gassed at a repairer in Orange (40 minutes west).

    Regards,
    Anthony
