Default Help - split hose D Special

    Hi all,
Our road trip to Canberra has taken a bad turn, with a split hose on the D Special. It is the short one with two diameters from the water pump to the curved metal pipe on the left side of engine bay. Disappointed as it was a new part less than 600 KMS ago!
Any suggestions for a locally available hose would be welcome.
    Cheers
    Steve

Give someone a clue or two:

    Where are you now?

    What is your mobile number?

Is there a Supercheap or other auto parts place nearby? Repco, Autopro etc

Something like this might help as DS coolant systems are fairly low pressure

If you have made it to Canberra, I might be able to run you around to get a replacement.

If no replacement available, I could offer you a hose from my Safari to get you on your way....

Sadly that hose is a known failure as a repro part, the OEM part would outlast the car. . .

Thomas found a more permanent replacement but I don't see any reference numbers and I don't read German

If no one local to you has a replacement, take your split hose to one of the auto stores and see if you can match it up.

Good luck, the car didn't let you down the rubbish repro rubber did. . .

    Cheers

Still cabbing it around auto shops in the rain, looking for something similar.

Thanks all for suggestions and offers, found a hose of sorts at a Supercheap after several visits to all sorts of places including a tractor place.
Called NRMA road service as last resort. The fellow they sent was extremely helpful and keen to have a go at fitting the hose I had found. He wrestled with the bloody thing for over an hour to get the big end on. And then manged to clamp it all together with parts I had sourced. Pressure tested the system and checked it all out, the fix seems to be holding. Very pleasantly surprised at the persistence of this fellow, he could have given up at any number of points along the way, all done by torchlight. Will run around for the next day to ensure it is all holding fast. Very pissed off at the NEW part failing in such a short interval.

This all happened while I was asleep, but for future reference, if your local supercheap auto parts still has a listing for a 1964 Ford Country Squire lower radiator hose (Gates 20509) you can make both hoses out of one of these...
