    Default Citroen Mechanic Wollongong

    G'day Frogger's,

I have a 1997 Xantia CT Turbo which has a pesky LHM leak coming from the regulator (or around that vicinity). I am wanting to book it in with a mechanic in the Wollongong Region (Illawarra) that isn't going to try and take me to the cleaners as I am poor uni student trying to battle a love for french motoring. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!

Gateway, the Holden mob, bought the Cit dealer in Wollongong, and then dropped Citroen, keeping Renault. There may be some expertise left in the workshop.

If you can drive to Sydney, most of us here will send you to Paul Vassallo, a perfectionist specialising in French cars, at AP Automotive in Carlton ph 9546 4006. This bloke is kept very busy and you will probably need a booking.

LHM leaks are regulars here. If you describe it fully, a DIY solution will pop up from another owner.

If you are able to do any DIY ... Wash it down and see if you can locate the point of leakage. Access is fairly good on a 4 cylinder Xantia. If the return hose is split, you will have big leak. Be careful with it as it is probably fragile now. If it leaks from the sphere seal, the pipe union or the release screw (caution - ball bearing inside), you can fix these without removing the regulator. Eventually, these regulators leak from the end seal (plug with a bolt hole in it) and side cover seal (return pip fitting), meaning you have to remove it and dismantle. Maybe clean it up and post some pictures of where you think it is leaking from.

How are your strut tops??? See:

Something you need to get to before that happens.
