Default 2016 C5 - which models came into Australia

With our C5 coming into its sixth year we are looking at the possibility of picking up one of the last oleopneumatics available. There seem to be two variations listed:
    1. said to have a Euro 5 motor and 120kW engine
    2. said to have a Euro 6 motor and 133kW engine

It has been said that there were only 10 cars, with Euro 6 engines, with 19inch wheels and a BlueHDi badge - but these appear to have been 150kW.

Anyone know what actually did come in? What were they designated?
    I've come across
    2016 Citroen C5 Exclusive Auto Wagon MY16and

2016 Citroen C5 Exclusive Auto Finale Wagon MY16

Are they the same, just described differently by inventive copywriters?

Last 2016 Citroen C5 examples on sale in Australia | PerformanceDrive details what was sold. There were only 10 BlueHDi models sold, and of the last 62 (including those 10), 25 were sedans...

The Finale was a MY14 model with a 2.2L engine...

If the information is correct it reveals what I've always believed: generally I know more about the vehicle than the salesman.

A number of the remaining 20 C5's listed on carsales are described as having a 133kW engine - slack entry or deceptive practice!?!?

The 133kw engine will be the BlueHDi model of which 10 were brought in I think. The 120kw engine will be the standard offering. 150kw engines will be the MY14 Finale.

Yay for the importers making it so simple!

It has been an interesting exercise 'looking' at the remaining C5s scattered around Australia. In seeking clarification on model details I've ended up with three quotes from three different states and they are all similar. The interesting thing is the reduced price when they remove the "on road costs" - because I'm inter-state I'd pay the stamp duty and rego in WA. The reduction on the advertised price was less than the total of NSW/Vic/Qld stamp duty plus registration. So they dropped the price but made sure a little was retained for the dealer. With WA stamp duty being fairly high it became very borderline on whether it was financially viable or not.

All the locations we dealt with would have given us a good excuse to visit family or sights before driving the car home. So we didn't factor in the cost of flights etc. The jury is still out as I await a couple of final dealers to see if they can find a "sharper pencil" :-)

Re the Euro 6 (DW10F), Continental say they flogged them all very quickly.

Re quotes, check out Wollongong - Gateway. They reckon they'll deliver anywhere! (Certainly will in NSW and Vic)

Gateway at Wollongong bought Corban. It's one of the few places that deals in all makes of French cars - http://www.gatewaymotorgroup.com.au/ Ring the prestige section. They might have stock they want to shift.

On the web site they have no link active on the Citroen logo across the top and their list of brands at the bottom of the page doesn't include Citroen. Their new cars section only has Holden, Ford, Mitsubishi and kia. Their drop down section has the Citroen logo but when you click on it nothing happens. It would seem they no longer handle Citroens.

Thanks for the offer. Much appreciated. I'd looked at them but it is a much longer drive home. Timing is not quite right as we are due to go there in May. Too late to get a car as it will be gone by then. ;-)

    Yep.

Sadly, Gateway has abandoned the Peugeot & CitroŽn franchise as of March (I think that is the correct timeframe).

It has been a very interesting exercise. Just sorting out what models and equipment are on the cars is a maze. Despite them all being 2016 C5 Exclusives, trim levels aren't necessarily the same it seems. Some cars are early 2016 manufacture while others are towards the middle of the year.

Dealing with different states and dealers has also been educational. In the end the WA dealer, Allpikes (AHG) were slow to respond to my enquiry but came back with an interesting approach. On being asked what price I was prepared to pay I responded that not knowing what their invoiced price is put me at a disadvantage. The reply was that buying a car was like purchasing a house. You make an offer and wait to see if it is accepted.

This led to me making an offer of my wildest dreams. Of course it wasn't accepted but they made a counter offer. The email was followed up with a telephone call to inform me of the offer and that it was 'rock bottom'. In the meantime I was still in contact with dealers in the Eastern states who made improvements to their initial offers. Dealing with a price excluding on road costs and measuring it against one that included them was a challenge.

One dealer even asked me if I'd drive my car to Sydney and trade it in. A trade in figure was given and a price arrived by email. Adding the cash price to the trade-in and WA on road costs finished that, as it missed the mark by thousands.

Meanwhile I'd emailed my counter offer to the WA dealer with the provision that I'd be in Perth Monday to collect the car. To my surprise it was accepted. Have I paid too much? Have I got the most recent, best equipped model? How does it differ from the other dozen or so cars still around? I'll never know. But for the moment I'm happy with the price I'm about to pay until someone tells me how much better they did.

Now to sell my 2011 C5 Confort with 110,000kms of mostly country running (on bitumen not dirt) to help defray the cost.

My children will inherit a bigger mortgage as a result of my purchase!!!
