On most late 2 CV there will be 3 stamps on the fire wall.....

1: an AM?? which is the year of construction.

    2. A 4 digit Replacement parts no,

Either that or check your chassis number on the same site.

    Best regards,

    Greg

    3. The paint code.

If you can find the RP no, us this site to get a manufacture date:

Thanks again Greg and Dan.My AM no is 89.ie the model year which apparently runs from Oct to Oct.I have found the ORGA no which gives a date of 27 Sept 88.I have just decoded the Vin no which gives a year_89.The Citronet website says the car should have a Chassis no beginning with KA which I cannot find. However I found the Vin no repeated on the chassis where the Chassis no should be,ie beneath the RHS driveshaft..Any help here most welcome.

    Hi Woody,

Glad you are making progress. Sometimes those ORGA numbers are a real eye opener. Probably not so much with late build 2CVs as they were flying out the door. I bought a brand new red & white Dolly in 1987, the dealer used to get 4 or 5 and they were gone in a jiffy. The death knell had been announced by the Paris factory and people were grabbing them while they could.

However, my '1987' CX GTI I actually found to have been built in 1985 so had obviously sat around. A friend of mine has an identical CX, ORGA number a few before mine that was registered as new in 1988! Handy to know if you are chasing bits.

    Good luck with the 2CV.

The other solution is to work out what "answer" is required for historic rego and then pick a date earlier. Any "expert" looking at the car will believe any date before 1960 is reasonable and wonder if you are not pulling their leg by suggesting it was built in the 1980's or 1990.
