Default Key replacement for 2014 C5 Exclusive

Our recently dealer-purchased C5 only had the 1 key, supposedly lost by previous owner.
    1. Is this a defined Citroen Aust Warranty item? &
    2. What is most cost effective way of getting a 2nd key? Is a simple key without buttons etc possible, as per our previous '04 C5?

The immobiliser wants to read the chip in the case.

Try taking the key to a mister minute Kiosk or a well established locksmith.

Nearly all can cut the key and many can clone the immobiliser chip, which they then fit to snap together key head. The one for my son's Honda cost $70.00 all up.

You won't have a remote for the doors, however in an emergency you can use a key.

The key kiosk in Southland Shopping Centre did my son's.

    Hi,

I can get you a new original Citroen key with remote control, or I can get you the same without the remote......Its what the call a door key, it works all the locks and ignition, but has no remote. Works well as a spare and cheap.

Need you Vin # (last 8 digits), and I can quote exactly.

Take about 2 week, The key will be cut as original, but it will have to be coded to the car (the other key will have to be recoded at the same time.

My prices are about half the dealer price. The door key is around $40.00??????

    best regards,

    Greg

    BTW,

What ever you do, you will need to code the key.......Pretty straight forward, and any one in Melbourne on this site who has Diagbox can do it for you.

    OK......

Based on the Vin for our C5, prices as follows:

Door Key (no Remote) Genuine Citroen cut at the factory to Vin # $51.22

Remote control key assembly Genuine Citroen cut at the factory to Vin # $172.66

Either key will need coding together with you existing key with Diagbox.

    Takes about 2 weeks.

    Best regards,

    Greg

Hello are you located in Sydney? If so, there is a lock smith who operates out of the Saturday markets at Paddys Flemington (large van) He has the key blanks to cut and clone modern era pug and Citroen keys (flip blade key style) on the spot. Cost me $90 a year or so ago. It's only a door and ignition key (no remote) but fine for a spare.

    Greg,

Can you get the security codes for these cars as well? I have needed this in the past when I have paired keys to Series 2 Xantias and Xsaras using Lexia.

    Cheers, Ken

Yes, it costs a couple of extra euros when I place the order.

In theory, the dealer can provide you with a code FOC, but unless you get your car serviced there, they probably don't want to know.

That's a nice price. When I bought my 2012 C5 last year it also only came with one key. It cost me over $300 to get the dealer to supply a new key/remote. The one remote I did get supplied to me the buttons were almost worn out, so I bought a replacement shell from ebay really cheap and it looks identical to the original.

When I got my C5, 2010 model, there were two remotes, but the buttons on the most-used one were worn, so I now use the other one.

I too got a replacement fob from ebay. Useless piece of rubbish. It looks the same on the outside, but inside the mounting lugs for the PCB were in a different position, and the hole for mounting the key was a different shape, a sort of diamond versus a K for the original.

I advised the seller that it was NOT suitable, despite what his ad said. He was apologetic and refunded the $4.95, but of course continues to sell the inapt piece, as does everyone else.

Dunno, maybe it is just me. Perhaps the 2010 model key fob is different from earlier or later ones.
