Default C 5 Auto gearbox malfunction

Hoppy in trusty 2012 C5 HDI (84,000 km)this morning, pulled the change lever into R as usual and a heavy clunk resulted. Can reversed slowly up the drive, so I went into D and went back to parking spot very slowly. My wife took me to work in the even trustier 2007 C5 HDI. When I got home I hopped in the 2012 C5 and the auto worked perfectly. Any ideas please.

Has the X7 had its oil changed yet? They are supposed to be changed every 60,000km. Penrite Fully Snthetic ATF works well.

Anything stored in the CHECK button or on a Diagbox error codes?

Could have just been a sticky solenoid that sent it momentarily into limp mode. An oil change may stop this becoming a continuing problem.

    Cheers, Ken

    Ken
Thanks for your advice. I will check the error codes at the weekend.

I imagine that the number of Australian registered C5 vehicles that have their ATF changed prior to 150,000 km would be less would be less than the number of federal politicians who have exaggerated their travel claims. I understand that this statistic will remain unknown.

    Hi Don,

I would change the oil in the transmission every 40,000K...........Your only draining 3 litres of a possible 7.

    best regards,

    Greg
