A number of comments have been made recently,in this place, regarding the greasing of CV joints with a view to reducing clunking etc.As far as I can sea the application of grease to the nipple at the wheel end does not grease the Hooke,s joints it only greases the spherical joint at the centre of the assy, this is not to diminish its importance.I strongly suspect that any serious clunking here will require a replacement.I seem to have been lucky over the years as I never have had any bother with these joints,in the corner of my shed I have 6or 7 good CV joints but only one Triax! I have seen some suggestions that later
Rzzepa type joints should be fitted! considering the fact that mine have lasted 40 plus years makes me wonder a little.
