    Default c5 2004 2lt H D I power loss interment

    Hello can anyone help my find out what is wrong with a 2lr H D I that has me baffled it starts great sounds nice ( 120,000 miles ) but just when you need to put your foot down and go it just won't take off if you wait it shovels some more coal on and pins you back in the seat i just am a bit bemused by the technology of modern Deisel engineering .

    I have changed the fule and air filters someone surgested the Air mass senser is common so i tryed it with the plug off it was like a lawnmower.
    Any help would be great .

    Does your car have a manual or auto transmission?

    sound like you might have a sticking egr valve, car wont accelerate till its shut

    Maybe change the fuel filter if it's been some time, but start by checking for a split air hose and leaking vacuum pipes before spending money. I doubt it will have a particle filter to block up, although it's a UK market car so could differ to what we received at that time. You should be able to hear the EGR valve snap shut if you apply a vacuum to it and let it go. Could be sticky as Balki suggests. Maybe there is a lack of turbo boost due to a bad vacuum pipe, so it takes longer to spool up? Look at the joiner near the vacuum pump on the head too.

    Hi all and thanks for your idea's its a manual gearbox the vacuum pipe and E G R valve are 1 year old but definitely worth a look I will let you all know what i find Thanks for your help best regards George
