    Default Tow bar for C5

Sadly, I need to spoil the rear end of my 20010/11 C5 with a towbar. Can anyone provide some advice about the best way of achieving a neat system, probably involving a removable tongue. Witter in the UK make some neat units, I think. Are they available/ certified for Australia?

Australian Design Rules differ from British, and you will need to allow for the chain setup and the maker's approval/load stamp which shows the Police and Rego inspectors that it complies.

Are you OK to stay below the ball weight rating of 57 kg?

You will need to fit a trailer lights relay system so that you do not add extra load the car's rear lights harness as well.

    Cheers, Ken

Many previous posts on exactly the same subject, have you done a scan?

FWIW, my 2010 C5 had one already when I got it, the 2inch tube tube with locking pin. Has what looks like factory (or dealer) sticker for it in the driver's door opening, but it still does not disable the rear sensors when reversing.

Manual says that download is limited to 57kg.

Thanks everyone. Very useful advice. I suppose I should check with the Citroen agents in Perth and see what they recommend.

You may need a mortgage with that method.

The Australian Hayman Reese kits come with the electronic box of tricks needed with the car wiring bus. Some brands may not disable the rear parking sensors, but a few beeps only when reversing a trailer isn't so bad. Australian detachable tow hitches need a small notch removed from the plastic bumper underside.

Allen I got one from Brisbane, delivered, at a pretty reasonable cost. European type with max ball weight of 75 kg. When the goose neck comes off and the electrical plug is swung up behind the rear tray it does not spoil the lines very much at all.

If your trailer has led lamps there is no need for relays
I took them off my D9 406 and no probs

My trailer is so old I have to light candles. Maybe time for a modern conversion. A useful point though. Thanks.

Many thanks. Looks good. I'll get in touch. Did you have them fitted by a garage or did you do it yourself?

I should have included this quote. Sorry. They look good. How did you have them fitted?
