Default My Pride & Joy - CX 2500 GTi

Drove my baby home yesterday. It's an undescribable feeling driving the CX. I was on a high for hours and realised it was worth the hassle of months messing with the spiders nest. Peterbuc

You need to come up to the Nth West of NSW Shane. Mine gets a run about every other weekend, although usually only in the mornings in this summery weather, even if it is just into town for a coffee or shopping. I'm sure Peter B will now also be running his around.

Mine rarely leaves the yard these days. Most of the driving I do is to work and back.... I see no reason to leave the CX parked in the sun/run all day everyday at work, so leave it in the shed.

It's only a 10minute drive to work. The A/C in my CX keeps the car cooler better than the 407's. I just don't want to leave it sitting in the sun all day at work. The shitty plastic inside it would disintegrate even more quickly than it currently is

Very unusual wheels or hub caps? Don't be shy, post more pictures and details...

Yes Peter, more and bigger pics please. I hope all the wiring is looking nice and tidy now and you have a good period of driving enjoyment.

    Cheers, Ken

    G'day,
I must admit, but don't tell anyone, that is a good looking car, for something that is not a Peugeot.

I have to put the dash back together, fix a couple of simple things and it will be ready to drive. The mech will look at the aircon for me later. It's awesome drving it even with the dash hanging down.

The bloke that sold it to me said he got the hupcaps from the USA. He also reckons the wheels are off an alfa romeo.

    Hi Peter

So pleased that you are getting through the annoying issues which have until recently ruined your enjoyment of what is obviously a beautiful car.

Given the previous owners description, you had no reason to expect the problems that appeared when you bought the car, but look on the bright side - now if anyone else asks about buying a CX you'll be able to give them very useful advice on assessing the wiring!!

I know Armidale is a few hours away, but have you discovered Laurie Lewis (laurie_lewis) yet? He's a fellow CX tragic who has been posting here on AF for a few years now. He started out restoring what had once been his father's car, and has since bought at least one more CX - a Turbo in need of much love and restoration - so he's well and truly bitten by the bug!

Let us know if you are planning to come through Armidale - would love to see your car!

    Cheers

    Alec

Thanks Alec I'll keep that in mind. I have tons of manuals brochures etc on the CX if anyone wants them. I can e-mail them if your mate wants anything on the turbo model.

There is nothing wrong with Peugeot. I had a Peugeot/Citroen called a C5. Thanks to Peueot they still make Citroens. I also owned a Renault . I love French cars.

Hey CXs. I have driven mine daily for the past 24 years up here in Nth. Qld. sunshine.
What's this about going out for a quick drive IF the weather is OK.
Any car, if maintained should be driven. ANYTIME & ALLTIMES. Not a pretty thing to show of.

Maybe you would think differently if you had stripped the car down to the last nut and bolt and then reassembled everything restoring as you go!

Think of the CX full wheel hubcaps circa 1978. Not as fancy as the Moon discs but you had a big dab of stainless steel giving a smoother finish to the wheel.

Wanking over car porn has its limits. The real thing is in the drive? IMO

Agreed, But if you drive it every day the novelty wears off! As a weekend drive it just re stimulates the desire to cherish and care for her.
