    Default 2CV Fun

Took The Alleged Vehicle for a run this weekend. I was officiating at the Phillip Island race track so Friday afternoon saw me tootling merrily down to the Island.

Apart from having lots of rattles, both engine and supension related, the little beast sang happily all the way at about 100kmh.

Got a lot of comments about the car, mainly from my Mini obessed friends surprisingly. They tried to talk me in to running it the Official's Regularity, but I chickened out. Might have been interesting to punt around the Island. Moby Dick was a hoot and a holler a few years back in the same event.

Coming home this evening saw me trying to stay ahead of the storm approching the Island, successfully I might add. Cruised home with the front part of the roof open and a squillion revs by the Aural Tachometer.

Surprisingly, the speedo is spot on as checked against the GPS.

Lots of little things to check and gradually improve, but a fun car for a fun drive.

    Should do it more often!

    Cheers, Pottsy.

Oh, and here's a photo of the Beast parked quietly at Turn 7 while I Communicated at the flag point.

Poor "Little Thing"; lost and abandoned in a desolate paddock miles from anywhere or anyone. How could you?

    Hardly alone Flash!

About 50 metres from the track over at Turn 7.

Absorbing a bit of vicarious racing experience with full fields of HQ Holdens and Improved Production Cars.

Definitely not lost and abandoned. Seemed like the motor spun more sweetly on the way home after being exposed to all those racing machines.

    Cheers, Pottsy.

I know what you mean as a steward I used to drive my Red 203 to all the events I was officiating at other than the Historic Races where I drove my 1923 Type 175. It is amazing the reaction one gets from the other officials, competitors and everyone else when one drives a car that most just lust after. Also amazing how much faster they drive home too.
