Stealing sunglasses from the 1980's the Fashion Police may be looking for him...

Seriously, the car is very nice. It doesn't have a big mouth for a start! Now, if they give it a bit of grunt under the bonnet they may even have a convert....

My dad just said he wants to buy one That was always the plan when he bought the C3, just to have it as a temporary measure.

Strange that some of those thumbnails attached look different to the image itself.

Anyway, very nice. Finally Citroen are making an effort again.

    Default CitroŽn

Nice car! I like it A LOT more than the 407 and 607, both of which look like Japanese/American pastiches.

I hope CitroŽn get their quality control right, and come back to North America with this car.

Firstly - thank you to Lapalisse for the pictures!

I think maybe the pictures xantia_vsx posted are of a couple of the motor show flag waving exercises have done for this car - the styling has varied a bit between these, although not as much as one might expect - it suggests to me that the look of the car has been decided for a while, with just some fine tuning being done. i suspect for example that the headlight treatment & interior of the final product may be more conventional (a pity if this is the case, i think).

doubtless the car will have the new PSA/Ford diesel V6 amongst the options which should be enough torque for anyone. i read in a magazine that PSA were allegedly looking at developing a petrol V8 to coincide with the 608 and a re entry to North America - i've no idea how fantastical this is, but it would presumably make its way into the C6 as well.

imagine a modern SM developed from this car with that engine...

all i have to do now is wait 15 years and i'll snap one of these up. by which time my as yet unborn children will be consuming all my finances. bugger it...there are too many people in the world anyway

    G'Day!

Yes, the pictures of xantia_vsx they are those Concept C6 Lignage appeared to Geneve Salon of 1999.
It's remains a study of style/concept, and "real" C6 should be between C6 Lignage and the photograph/photoshop which I posted (based on C5).

Sputnik, you are a good informations!
In brief, but without being sure at 100%, there will be only 6 cylinder motors (V6) and superiors. At the beginning the most powerful engines will be the V6 HDi Ford/PSA (~200hp and big torque) and the V6 24v (~230hp).
Perhaps after, will come V6 Biturbo and/or V8 from power equal or higher than 300hp. But they are only gossip for the moment.
The plateform is based on the 407 with a largest wheelbase. The suspension will be hydro (new hydractive 4) of course.
Different versions will have the directive rear wheels, spoiler and aileron auto-adaptive...even perhaps 4WD.

If exterior is original, the interior is also! As with C4, there will be many innovations and return to the "true values" of CitroŽn: flywheel one branch, head-up displays, infra-red night vision, adaptive directive headlamps, perfume evaporator (really ) ect...

She will be available in 2006 and for the price...~50.000Ä!!! (83.000$ AUS), for the V6 24v Exclusive!

It remains much of unknown, but a thing is sure, CitroŽn will not seek to make the enormous sales with C6 even if they spent much of money. It will be especially a "porte drapeau" for the constructor, for which I hope a return about the world scene of the luxury and prestige cars.

    ----

For the come back to North America, I hope also. But for this market, the priority of PSA is Peugeot and is to build a network in this continent or really to join/associate an American manufacturer. Ford was interrested but with their bad results of the year, that should not be the case any more.
And it is still deferred since the problems with the Iraq war...

To finish on the quality and reliability of the French cars does not have to redden of European competition (Opel, VW, Ford...) or even Japanese. The Japanese cars remain here (like everywhere in the world) always most reliable, it is "inconstestable". But they always do not carry the last technological innovations, leaving with the others the care of the sophisticated and made reliable ones...for coming then there. I also think of the technology multiplexing and the modern diesel (Common Rail, HP pump, turbo with variable geometry...) which had some problems on European cars. (The suppliers - as Valeo, Bosch, Siemens, Delphi, Denso, ect - being also for something)

It's also true that the American cars have in Europe (since the end of 70's), a very very very bad reputation...on almost all the domains.
The prejudices remain strong and undoubtedly the "yankees" are much better today, but the sales are always near of zero.

PS: Sorry for this long post filled of faults.

Au contraire - je crois que votre poste est trŤs bien ťcrit, sans dťfautes majeurs!

I do hope for a PSA re-entry in North America with the C6 as the flagship (porte-drapeau) and the 307 CC, 307 SW, 206 RC and maybe a few others (too late for the beautiful 406 Coupť I am afraid).

Peugeot never took Canada and the USA seriously, just sending one or at most two models over, and the larger models which were not too successful even in France (e.g. 604, 505). We need to have a wide range of models to choose from to support a dealer network! You will never find many businesspeople willing to set up a good dealership if they only have one or two models to sell. So you only get interest from the marginal guys, which leads to poor service, poor parts supply, poor attitude, and this in turn leads to disappointed customers and poor sales. A classic negative feedback loop.

Look at smart - they have three (and soon, 4) models. This is a necessary step to keep any dealer network alive! If PSA ever realises their mistakes of the past in North America, they will make sure there are at least 3 or 4 model ranges to choose from here.

The next thing is the fact that Peugeot is not perceived anywhere in the world as a luxury car maker. All of their large cars have been sales disasters. The reason is that there is zero brand equity in their name for luxury car buyers. But CitroŽn on the other hand has still somehow got that cachet of "high tech" which would be a wonderful boost for their re-entry into North America as the luxury arm of PSA. Because their cheap tin boxes like the C2 and C3 could be kept out of our market, the luxury car cachet would remain strong. If the C6 has as many high tech features as you say, Lapalisse, and the car is relatively reliable, it would be a great success!

    Cheers from Canada

The "paper-VW" got Swedish registration, so I guess itīs up in Arjeplog, north
Sweden that the pic is taken. A lot of car European car manufacturers do
their winter testing up there, the local college even got the possibility to
study "car testing" and odd languages like Italian....
Homepage unfortunatly on in Swedish, http://www.arjeplog.se/bst
