Default Citroen Xsara buying advice - specially Diesel Automatics (am in NZ)

    Gday
the NZ Citroen/ Peugeot situation is very different here in NZ to my native Australia. Many cars are Japanese second hand imports and thus specs engines etc very different. Sadly 90-95% of Citroens and Pugs sold/ imported since ZX / 306 are automatics. I am interested in a 2004 HDI 2.0 Xsara SX that was sold NZ new in auto only. The vehicle I am keen on is 1 owner 110,000km in amazing condition. I frequently drive my mums 2003 C3 Panoramique in Aus (1.4) and very underwhelmed with the auto transmission. Is this the same one in Xsara? Are they problematic/ expensive ... It's the only thing that puts me off the car (there not a manual to be found in NZ !) having never owned a Xsara am keen for any advice. The diesel is a good idea as petrol is $2.00 a litre in NZ cheers Rory .. Ps here is car I. question
