    Default What colour is this....?

Really not sure about this colour - it's a 67 so could be Bordeaux but I think it's too light... and too dark for both Rouge Cornaline or Rouge Rubis.... but reds are not something I've been good at picking...

    Matthew...?

But then again being a Chapron it could be anything...! It's a lovely short film of a beautiful car...

    Any ideas...?

Hmmmmm... it seems to have a pearl in it in the sunlight. I found this pic, looks similar but no reference to the colour name. I'll keep looking.

It looks dark enough to be Rouge de Grenade here...

Many thanks Matthew - I knew you'd be onto it...!

I think the fact it's an overcast day confounds things a little - when the car drives through patches of sunshine it lightens up considerably...

    I really like the colour....

    Cheers,

    Mark...

Did D's ever wear Rouge Delage? That is the red on a 2CV Charleston.

Very hard to tell colour from photos, particularly outdoor ones. Even more difficult on older cars where the photo was shot by a film camera (e.g. 35mm, not a digital camera). Did they use a skylight filter or not? Makes a great difference to the colour on the photo.

Agreed. Impossible to tell from photographs, here is an example of variation of AC 605 Monte Carlo Blue cars.

AC605 Bleu Monte-Carlo Citroen DS ID

And, after visiting the Healey Factory early in the week, the question also arises - how much do you want or have to spend? Some people pay $20K for a paint job - to pretty special vehicles!

Pretty sure that Dick Verbeek would be very keen to answer the question.

    Regards,

    John

Many thanks for your input guys - I understand it's not an exact science.

20k is cheap these days for a proper paint job...

Is anyone happy to make an educated guess...? - I think Matthew is on the money with Rouge de Grenade...

My next step is to get in contact with Dirk and ask...

    All the best,

    Mark...

I too would have it as a guess that it is "Rouge De Grenade AC 426" whilst Bordeaux AC 421 comes a close second!
