    Default D Super gear change

Just tidying up a few things on my newly acquired D Super.Today I,m onto the Gear Change mechanism.
Having adjusted the ball joints I noticed that the bronze bush at the base of the steering column housing is very loose,a new bush would help but I think most of the wear is in the sheet metal housing. So I,ve removed the housing and the bush,I,m very, tempted to silver solder the bush back into the housing.Better first to check on how others have dealt with this problem.??

I've just looked at mine, and I've a worn out plastic bushing which I am in the process of theorising the replacement.
