Default citroen bx 16v bad idle

so i just spent the last 4 days fitting a new starter motor to my 16v. i don't think i disturbed anything when i put everything back together, but now it's idling weirdly, and just as i took it out for a spin today the engine entirely cut out at 2000 revs. has anyone had this problem with a 16v before?

Air leak would be my bet. Check all the rubber hoses (including inlet tube from air cleaner) to make sure everything is connected properly and has no splits.

Check the electrical plug to the air flow meter - near the air filter. Also the knock sensor plug next to the oil filter. Sounds like a electrical/sensor problem to me.
