Default Citroen contact for Melbourne - request for information

I have a work colleague in Melbourne who has recently risen greatly in my estimation!

He wants to buy a reasonable and original Slough-built Traction. Black and beautiful. He isn't a mechanic, not into restorations, just wants a reasonable and driveable example for a sensible price.

Can someone give me some contacts for him? He'll wait for the right one I'm sure.

    Thanks

That's interesting. 107 viewings and not a single contact for my friend in Melbourne.

Sorry John, I guess that no one wants to sell their tractions at this time!
They are very hard to find for sale these days!
    Cheers Gerry

Thanks Gerry. I'd expect that I guess. I should have worded the request a bit better.

Is there someone he could be in touch with who would know if one were to come up for sale or might be coming up for sale in the future, so the "family" could know there is a potential buyer out there? I'm not linked to any clubs in Victoria that I could suggest to him.

Perhaps he should chase a D instead - there are several good ones over here!

    Cheers

How long is the piece of string? Is his budget reasonable? There's variation in models and great variation in condition and values. Some people reject big boot cars just on aesthetic grounds and it's true they are different - trim is a little simpler, no wood on the doors, round dial dash may not appeal greatly and the big boot doesn't help the balance of the shape. Does he only want a Slough car or would consider a French Legere? Definitely doesn't want a Big 15 (big boot only) then??? ID conversion??? 'Black SLough car' rather limits the field.

Shannons seem to turn one or two up annually, like this one sold for $25K last year:
Citroen Light 15 Sedan Auctions - Lot 12 - Shannons

They've had a couple of other go through for rather less than that one. Here's one that sold for $10K and was discussed here:
    Light 15 at Shannons
Citroen Light 15 Sedan Auctions - Lot 6 - Shannons

Many thanks David. I'll flick him a link to the post now and he can start getting his mind around options. "Be prepared" is the key when the occasional one turns up, I reckon.

    Cheers

If he hasn't already bought it, he should obtain a copy of Pressnell's Citroen Traction Avant:

Nice looking big 6, not black but close. Also a light 15 in white.

You didn't mention the green Lt 15. Hard to miss that one!
