I would be interested to know how close the 425 is to the 602 , ? mechanically, yes a question would be does it have hardened valve seats and if not , I guess you need that additive

If its got an alloy head it must have hard valve seats. Goes for any car.

    Hi Bertie,

Viking would be the one to ask, did you get his contact details?

I run a 602cc and use premium to assist with reducing detonation/pinking/pinging/knocking which our air cooled flat twins can be prone to.
You will find it will run on just about anything at the pump if it's timing/advance is set up to suit. I have never ran any additives, i theory is that as it is a horizontal boxer engine there is always plenty of oil creeping in via valve stem seals and past rings to make up for it
I once ran my 2cv on Kero after the new Albury bypass went in and realised I had passed it without seeing a petrol station, I decided to nurse it on to Holbrook and fell 8k short... Late at night and had two bottles of kero in the back for some unknown reason... I made the 8 k's surprisingly well and a local officer commented on the car smelling like a Zippo lighter!

There is a fair bit of difference speed wise between the two.
