    Default Lexia virus?

I bought a Lexia Diagnosis tool from ebay.

The problem is, my anti virus software has detected several viruses and trojans on the install DVD.

The seller reckons this is part of the registration process and swears it's OK.

    Anyone else had similar issues?

    Thanks.

If you run cracks, it's best to use an old computer that not only does not, but also cannot go online.

The advice is to turn off virus checking when installing. I havn't seen any virus activity on the PC that I used for my Lexia.

    Cheers,

Install something like Virtualbox and then install it on that.
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

I think you are extremely lucky if that's all that's wrong with the "Ebay Lexia"

Yeah, I know what you mean.
I haven't managed to get it to work yet. I can uninstall/reinstall the bloated software in my sleep now.
Does anyone in the Hawkesbury area of NSW have a working Lexia or Diagbox? I just want to activate the daylight running lights on my C5 X7.
    Thanks.

You don't need a Lexia to do that. Check your owner's manual. It's buried in the menu system you access through the steering wheel controls. I have had mine activated for the last year or so. As soon as the headlights go off, the daytime lights come on. Havn't blown a bulb yet but it looks like fun to replace when it does go.

    Cheers,

You are correct, but my C5 does not display the option like my previous C5 X7 did.
I am hoping it's just a setting somewhere.

You don't see any virus activity these days.
It is probably just tracking your keystrokes when you enter your bank details and passwords

Get latest virus scan, but even these are not 100% reliable for obscure sources like car diagnostics

I guess it depends on whether you consider your source to be a reputable seller or not

I installed it on a spare laptop (an Apple running a 32bit version of Win7 via BootCamp) which runs AVG anti-virus software. I turned it off for installation and I turn it off when running the Diagbox software, otherwise it just won't work.

The rest of time, I have the AVG software running normally. I think there was even a "movement" that said if you run the Diagbox software while connected to the internet (ie. wi fi, etc.) it will also stop working, but it hasn't on mine. Most of the time that's because there are no wi-fi networks in range when I'm in a garage or a carpark, but still, it runs fine when in my house and still works fine when I'm next using it in a carpark

I just got an ancient old laptop from work ... dead battery ... slow as a slug... and installed it on that. You just disable the wireless card so it can't try to access the internet. Even if there is viruses there not going to worry anything. That laptop does nothing other than run the lexia software and never goes onto the internet.

Good in theory if you can get the diagbox software to actually work.
