Does anyone know if Robert is away on leave and when he might be back? I last saw him at the end of November.

You have to go and see him as he never answers the phone or, replies to voice messages....

This is true, I made the trip to see him as he didn't return my call, well worth it, when you see how much work/projects he has on you understand why!

    Certainly an "interesting" business model.

Agreed robmac, but I suppose if one is good/busy enough, one can make one's own business model
Any day I wake up and don't have to go to work, is a good day

Contempt for customers no matter how you "good" you are is a worry.

I wonder if he is an older man and about to shut up shop or sell out.

I sold my business when I started realise that I wasn't enjoying interacting with customers.

It can be a downward spiral when you loose the customer service "mojo".

sounds like Bernard in Blackbooks! A plus in this day and age perhaps?
The old world was much more sensible.

Robert can be difficult to get on the phone. It is better to drop in on him. He's pretty close by for me, about 15 mins drive. I've always found Robert to be very friendly and helpful although expensive. He has multitudes of DS panels and CX BX GS parts. He has chassis straightening rigs and can restore anything. He sold me a complete CX steering rack seal kit ( about 30 parts in a factory sealed bag) for $200.00 about 10 years ago. He has plenty of time for customers and is happy to answer questions.
The positive thing about his phone behaviour is that if you are there talking to him and the phone rings he doesn't break the conversation to answer the phone. It's a different attitude. A customer in the workshop is worth two on the phone.
It seems worse now because these days he works alone. At one stage about 10 years ago he had about 3 blokes working with him. I think one was his dad. This freed him up enough so he could get to the phone.
Yep, best to call in to see him I reckon.
    Cheers...
