Default How many CXs Have Survived in UK

This was posted to the CX-L Yahoo site.
Interesting to note that most have disappeared off their roads!

Hi Gerry that last auction in the UK of all those ex Patrick Rudd (?) CXs might have been the last hurrah for RHD UK CXs, all in the one place at the one time. Digressing I wonder how a CX would go with modern front wheel drive engine and say DSG gearbox like out of a VAG. Lots of gears, lots of low down torque.

Probably quite well if the weight of the recipient vehicle matched the weight of the donor vehicle.

Forget about driving a HP hydraulic pump off nearly any VAG engine they are chockas for real estate on the engine. So you require an electric pump (and a big alternator).

Ah yes, but we have one of the Patrick Rudd cars in WA now. I wonder how many CXs have survived here for that matter.

Why not a turbocharger or supercharger and keep it simple and robust? The thought of messing about with a non-original engine in a CX makes me get cold and shaky and reach for the Ricard.

I often thought our CX could have at least done with a four speed overdrive gearbox. Given time, space, money and a touch of insanity, a 12V V6 from an XM could have been fun...
