The D Super 5 is a rare one as these were 'private imports'

it's is a nice original looking car though. The interior and engiine bay looks very unrestored and tidy. I'm not a fan of the ugly central heating ducts cut into the undertray... Hell of a nice looking car though. I have no idea what it's actual value is, but it look nice.

I think that car is probably worth more than all my cars put together .... and the caravan and trailers ... and probably the house too I'm just amazed it's for sale after all the work that's gone into it with 3young kids climbing all over it it would look like your average "battered shane car" in no time.

For the story involving Dick Johnson's wife's 2CV see here. Apparently before it was in Dick's garage it belonged to PC June Ackland from The Bill.

The NSW Peugeot Club are having their monthly meeting amongst all the cars on Wed, 5 November, from around 7pm.

Feel free to sneak in and have a gander at the cars - your pipe and tweed jacket are optional

The 'super 5' looks like a nice car, but I think it is poor that it being advertised as a D Super 5, when it is actually a D Special with a 21 engine and 5 speed. Nothing wrong with that, but the seller should be disclosing it. Personally even though I like the car, I wouldn't buy it since if the seller is not disclosing something so fundamental, what else is not being disclosed?

Shannons also should do some basic checks. It's not hard to see it has a D Special VIN.

How would they tell though I probably couldn't without a lot of investigaton. I think both would have the same designations on the build plate

    For 1975:
    D Super 5 4565001 on
    D Super & D Special 10FD5001 on

This info is in all the normal DS books. Cars trying to pass themselves off as something they are not is unfortunately quite common. Maybe not as common for DS yet as their values are only now starting to rise (outside the Deaps), but take the Mercedes W111 two door series. To many unscrupulous sellers have taken a coupe body, sawn the roof off - ended up with a floppy mess they are trying to pass of as a factory cabriolet. VIN is a quick first check.

Well they obviously don't check too hard as they recently advertised a 51 11BL as a 48 light 15

Let's not get to carried away, it was a nice D Special. They fitted a 2175 motor and a 5 speed gearbox, I think the factory came to exactly the same conclusion. As I said, it was a lovely car, I'm sure it has been improved. The D Special is a nimble car, I bet this one goes like the clappers, and with a 5 speed, yahoo! Good buying at the right price.

Icon14 Nice report on the 2CV, widely circulated to motoring writers.

Came across the Ta-ta to tootsie report in the Country motoring supplement - nice story line, lot of very nice cars being offered for sale at Shannons Late Spring Classic Auction in Sydney on November 17th - rumoured price the 2 CV will achieve is between $14,000 and $18,000 Interesting to see what it brings and if it stays in Australia.
