    Default Stolen CX

My beloved donor has been stolen! No joke.

last seen parked with easy access for my trailer pick up. I arrived today to collect it but it has disappeared. According to my neighbour it went last Tuesday.

It was left at the front gate on council land. The council has confirmed they didn't take it. In one way the thief has done me a favour by saving me the trouble of moving it. If only they had collected it from the bottom of the hill weeks ago. But jokes aside someone, if not me, could have made use of more good parts! I would have preferred to give it away to an AF than have some crook have it crushed for $150.

I don't think I have ever heard of a Citroen being stolen, we joke about leaving the keys in the ignition and the cars still sitting where they are left

    I'd be waiting for a ransom note. . .

My neighbour in fitzroy used to always leave his car unlocked and window down in the street. In those days cars were being broken into regularly. Now that's smart reverse psychology or he was hoping to cash in on his insurance.

Call the cops, registed the VIN. Call the wreckers in the area and ask them to keep an eye out for it. There's not many places a CX can go!

I'm sorry - if you leave a car that looks like that on public land for an extended period with no rego plates and no note, I think it would be perfectly reasonable for anyone to assume that it is abandoned and think they are doing the community a favour by removing it!

Interesting view point, but theft can not be condoned for any reason. ("doing the community a favour" Really?) Besides to understand the country location that it was left was a quiet dead end lane shared by only 2 other neighbours. One has been away the entire time.

I would definitely make a statement to the Police, they are a body appointed to stop crimes like property theft.

The vehicle was stood on part of what your neighbour considered his driveway easement, not public land, and you had left it there with his permission.

A real shame as your wreck still looks like a valuable resource. Check your local hoarders paddock. Every town has one

it''ll be a local for sure, and someone who wants scrap, no one would be daft enough to rip one off otherwise, unless they wanted parts and knew about it's whereabouts. Nope some local do badder has absconded your ride dude.

I'm speechless and struggling to get my head around it. I think this is the first occasion in Australia of a CX being stolen. The lingering question is why? I can't think of a rational reason. An irrational reason might be because it was there but it was a non-runner needing some work and a trailer to remove. I'm sorry, Adrian. The sour taste and sense of violation exist irrespective of the value or utility of the property stolen. I agree with the suggestion to report details such as VIN to the police even if you feel its just going through the motions. Totally stumped.

it won't have been stolen as a car, it's been stolen as a lump of scrap metal.. I'm sort of surprised, I would have thought the cost of getting it to the scrap metal dealer would outweigh the value of it.

I've reported it stolen. There was no record on Vicroads data base of the VIN, when the police tried to look it up. I think it's been off the road for too long and record has been deleted. I have subsequently found its old rego number and supplied that, so maybe the police have some record of it now.

It's probably being crushed now and will be shipped to Korea to make 7 Hyundais.

It's sitting now in a container on the way to the UK. They'll restore just anything!! However, it is no joke to have something stolen. I leave my D on lowest setting so that if anyone were to try theft it would have to be someone that knew what they were doing and not just a joyrider. And a joyrider wouldn't get far.

If they didn't know what they where doing they would hit the first hump at speed and total the undercarriage.

They wouldn't get that far or that fast before the noise of the exhaust scraping freaked them out - which starts pretty much immediately and is horrendous. As I found out once accidently. And I guess I'd rather have to repair the car than lose it.
