Default D Special 2200 engine install question

    Hi D experts
Fitting a 2175 engine to a D Special. Will the standard radiator be Ok or do i need to fit something bigger?
    thanks

    Hi Rob,

If by 'standard' you are referring to the non-expansion tank equipped or top filled radiator - most likely not sufficient unless your cooling system is in top notch shape - if you live in a hot climate. You best bet is to fit a cross flow radiator with aux electric cooling fan - system that came with A/C cars.

In NZ, only 23s had the expansion tanks (and electric cooling fans) on them. In fact, I've upgraded a 21 to a 23 without upgrading to that radiator with no issues.

Of course, it is a cooler climate here, and almost no Ds here have AC.

    Hi Rob
I,ve done that too.I,ve had no problems with the standard radiator. The temp has never been over 85c.All I want now is a 5sp gearbox.

Thanks for the advice-sounds like fitting a temperature guage might be useful.
