Default 1985 CX new car price in Aus

Can anyone tell me what the Australian new car price was for a CX25 Pallas or GTi in 1985? Trying to finish my notes for Sunday's run and I don't have any car magazines from that year and my searching is proving fruitless.
    Thanks

I looked it up in Wheels a few months ago, pretty sure it was $36,990 or $37,990. The GTI manual was same price as Pallas auto.

Looks like I may have been wrong. Just saw Andrew's response and checked.

Same as a BMW 528i. I'm guess the cx turbo was more.

If the turbo were available here when new it would have carried a premium of at least $10,000. Alas all we got were the private imports.

I'm looking at my May 1985 edition of Wheels right now......the new car price is listed as $34,950 for the 3 speed and $36,700 for the GTI 5 speed. Just out of interest, and for comparison.....the top of the line Holden Calais with "injected" 202 and "traumatic" transmission is listed at $20,095. My Dad had a HZ with a 202 in it. Man that thing could drink juice.

I remember using HZs at my work place. 17l/100km was normal. My CX is averaging 11.5 so you had to pay more for the more efficient and environmentally friendly car.

Our local radio station plays alot of music from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. They often play a grab that says "And here's another song from a period when a hard drive was six kids in a Kingswood with vinyl seats". They sure sold alot of Kingswoods, and they probably weren't too bad in their day, in their own context. But gees, put 'em next to a CX and gees they seem agricultural.
