    Default Toe Bar (Xantia)

    Hi,

I have just discovered that a Xantia series 1 towbar does nor fit a series 2...

Any way, if any one wants an orginal Citroen tow bar for a series one, pm me and I will let you know the price. (the "for sale" forum does'nt seem to get much traffic)

    cheers

Hi Warren, What exactly doesn't fit? Don't be too quick to give up! Leith

I have to have the rear bumper repainted so,
I will ask them if they can fit it. I think the bumper will need to be cut....

If it's only the bumper needing a trim, it shouldn't be too tricky. As long as the mounting points are the same is the priority.

From memory, you have to cut a slot in the skirt of the rear bumper cover to accommodate the tongue. You certainly need to do this on the C5 and fitting a towbar on a C6 involves cutting holes in the end of each chassis rail.

For the C5, there are different towbars for wagon and hatch and thet S2 bar is longer to allow for a deeper rear bumper. So a S2 C5 towbar will fit a S1, but not the other way around. I can't recall whether th S2 Xantia rear bar is deeper than the S1 and whether that might be your concern???

My Xantia II break has no cuts in the rear bumper, and a factory towbar.

The genuine towbar for a Xantia needs a bit cut out of the horizontal bottom section of the bumper.. I bought a brand new one for my series 1 Xantia ct years ago and it came with a template of where to cut, very neat. All mounting holes were already there and everything lined up perfectly. Was an excellent tow vehicle too .

Sorry for the slight hijack - can anyone explain the difference between hatchback and wagon towbars? Could I modify a hatchback to fit a wagon?

Alternatively, if anyone has a wagon towbar for sale - I'm interested .

    Cheers

    Alec
