Default SM roadtrip Sydney to Melbourne

About a year ago I bought a 5 speed right hand drive carby SM here in Melbourne. It had suffered a wiring melt down and needed a clutch among other problems. I also bought a set of Euro spec headlights and the crossmember in Paris to make it look proper ! The wiring loom was redone as original and then it was sent off to Port Kembla to Peter McLeod SM Australia for the rest.

It has been resurrected and this last weekend Jan and I drove it home down the Hume from Sydney. Did not miss a beat. A few issues to sort, but small gremlins only.

Gee keeping to the speed limit can be a problem sometimes........

My dream car arrives in my shed.

    Hi Jon,

Great to hear of another SM making it's way to Melbourne. You are not alone. Your car looks very nice too.
    cheers Tony

Beautiful. You should have procured some French number plates as well. They add to the authenticity of the car and save big time on speeding fines, road tolls and parking fines.

Wow great! Enjoy! My gs club had a loom melt when the metal holder that holds the coil lead got loose and touched one of the contacts on the coil. Very expensive fit for a student at the time

    Lovely.

Thanks. Took a bit of work and lots of time. The mushroom dust caused cross eye fever which still has to be sorted out.

Good on you for using a real '70s GT car in the way it was intended to be used. They are a fantastic drive.
