    Default CX Reflex

Friend is going to look at a CX Reflex but details are scarce. What is it? Is this a base model? Do these have any issues other than general condition? I am aware that door trims are rare in good condition so this will be a starting point. Would these have an auto option or would they be the C-matic equipped? Hoping to view the car with friend on the weekend.

Are you sure it's a Reflex They were never sold in Australia. The have the Douvrin engine in them (ie: the all alloy motor used in Renaults/poogoes at the time). You know it probably handles better than the local ones (as it's lighter in the nose) with similar performance and better fuel economy. I think there all 5spd manuals.

Waiting until the weekend so I can view it, I had never heard of one but I am only a Pug tragic. What is a C-matic? Don't know if this one is auto or not. The autos were ZF I think if so they would be unbreakable. Our old 505 diesel is on it's original at just under 400,000 yet to be touched. Friend wonders what value it would hold if it is in good condition, low kilos and rust free? Have to see it to check out the claims. Under or over $1000?

As Shane described the Reflex (and it's brother the Athena) was the CX that came with the Douvrin 2.2 4 cyl engine (the same 2.2 seen in some 505s and R25s), rather than the 2.0/2.2/2.4/2.5 Citroen 4 cyl. The Athena was basically just a Pallas-ized Reflex. Very unlikely it's an automatic. The C-Matic is a 3-speed semi-auto- you row your own, but clutch duties are taken up by a torque converter controlled by a switch, actuated every time you touch the gear lever.
The measure of your character isn't what you do when people are watching- it's what you do when they aren't watching.

Andy N had CX Reflex for couple of months few years ago. That was a four speed with less equipment than Australian delivered ones. Liked that car - felt lighter and more agile than one with a tractor engine. Even the nominal power was lower than say 2400 it felt faster.

Let us know more details when you know...

There was a maroon 4-speed manual Reflex in Maleny for a good while. Last time I saw it up there was probably around about 2005. I think it was a '79 model. It surely was a different kind of CX with that lighter engine. I'm guessing it's the same car that Kimmo is referring to given the location and rarity of the low-spec cars in Australia.

Certainly on my wish list. Maybe once the 2200 is done........

Yeah Kimmo is right that Reflex I had for a short time until passing it on to a guy near Grafton. I have thought about that car a few times and worried about what had come of it. I hope that it didn't end up rusting in a paddock as it had a great engine and hydraulics but needed gearbox and work on the interior and bodywork. It also had an early non-factory popup sunroof. Service records showed it came in from the Jersey Islands.

I did see either a white Reflex or Athena at a Tasmanian repairer's a few years ago, can't remember which trim specification.

Finally have viewed the Reflex, it is a parts only car as it has lots of rust. It is a beige colour, five speed manual with good stainless bumper bars, a European looking tow bar, sunroof and I think a reupholstered interior. Tail lights are also in good condition. It is on the market before it goes to the crusher, any interest?
