    Default DS clutch pedal

    Hi all
The clutch pedal on my DS23 5 speed doesn't come up fully when I take my foot off, it can be pulled up by my foot and stays up. When depressed there is no resistance until it's halfway down. Gear changes are fine with no crunching. Is it a case of simple adjustment or something more serious?

Check the two cable ends for fraying. You might need a new cable.

Another item to check is the position of the over centre spring on the clutch pedal itself!

Me too. The pivot snapped 100km later, leaving me spectacularly stranded for the first time with my D.

    Caution..

Those pivots are he weakest link on a late RHD D series manual car. Can't you just hear Cornelia Francis now? "You are the Weakest Link -----Good-Bye"

Clutch pedal return spring has broken. Not an earth shattering drama, but annoying.
You need to remove the pedal assembly ( easy ) and replace this strong spring. As it is a late DS, there is a weak secondary spring that works on a small hook, but it is the one wound around the pivot shaft that you need to attend to.

Hi, the pivot is new, replaced last year, and at that time the cable was in good condition, no fraying. Car has only driven about 2000km since then. This new issue has been gradual, pedal was fine, then returned most if the time, now it never comes all the way up on its own. I will check the springs on the pedal assembly.

    Cheers,
    Ed
