    Default BX keys, Help!!

I have lost the door and ignition keys (different) to my 1994 BX 16valve. I never got atound to making copies.
Can I get keys made from the barrels? Any advice will be most welcome as this is my daily driver>
    Thanks

A locksmith may be able to make a key from one of the front door locks, but you need a key to actually get the ignition barrel out.

LOL, I noticed that too - and my French is diabolical.

I'd probably break a quarter window then fit a Supercrap or Jaycar remote locking kit for the time being, with concealed bypass/kill switch.

Replace column with another for which the key is obtainable.

    Make copies of key.
Affix to keyring with mobile number and "$150 cash reward" in big letters.

If you ever lose them, they will turn up quickly.

RACQ can't help? With NRMA, you can pay a little extra with your road service and they arrange for a locksmith to come and cut new keys for it and they contribute towards the cost. Your insurance policy for the car might give you some cover too.

It is easy to get in the car. A coat hanger through the front window will probably do the job. I have done it with my cx multiple times. (worn key and dodgy lock)

Even my 2007 aurion it worked like a treat, although I needed a wedge to open the door when both our sets of keys ended in the boot.

If your ignition barrel is worn you might be able to use any key or even a screw driver. You will have to replace the locks if you can't find the keys.

VALEO makes BX door lock kits for about 60 pounds from the UK. Also ignition lock with 2 keys for around 100 pounds.

    If it helps.

For the doors, I highly recommend the Supercheap Auto remote central locking kit. Has a really good remote. Your BX probably had a "plip" at some stage. I converted my Xantia to the Supercheap Auto system. Basically just swapped the plip receiver box in the lining above the rear view mirror with the SCA unit and now you have central locking working.

The ignition is a separate problem. I remember buying a "5-pack" of new ignition barrel, new door locks, glovebox lock and fuel filler lock. It is an interesting exercise replacing the fuel filler lock.

May help for the barrel, not for the doors though.
