Default Location of BX temperature gauge

I have a 1989 TRI. The temp gauge on the dash is not working. I have located the sensors on the back of the motor and also two on part of the heater unit under the distributor. Of these second two one has a blue connection and one has a black connection. The car has aircond and the oil temp gauge.

What I want to know is which one actually serves the temp gauge??
    Do they simply stop working??
Could it be another cause considering no-one has been jiggering around with the dash gauges??

    Cheers

AFAIK The standard TRi didn't ever have a temperature gauge. Its most likely you have 16v instruments..

I have the same and have wired everything from the instruments..I just need to get in and connect these wires to the engine.

There should be 2 warning light temp sensors ..one for "very hot" ..one for "its too late"..choose one and replace it with a temperature gauge sender..Quite a few should be compatible (pug/other cits)

I recall that my BX TRi had a temp gauge. I remember watching it whilst travelling to SA in February one year when the outside temp was near 45 degrees.

Yes mine has a gauge. From the factory. Must have been the luxury model. But which sensor is it? Four to choose from. So far the blue one's in the lead.....

Gosh, I am feeling ripped off, by old BX didn't have a temperature gauge, just a warning light
