    Default CX Wheels

    Hi,

Can someone tell me what wheels and tyres the CX 2500 GTI should have. Mine came with after market mags...

    Thanks

They should have 14" wheels on them - not sure of the width, but nothing outrageous.

    Alfa 164 apparently. Want one?

Would they not have come with 390mm rims? That could be why it has aftermarket rims now.

Yeah some of the GTi's came fitted with 390mm wheels, they look juist like 14" wheels.

    14"

If they are aftermarket ones, they would be 14" most likely. I have Michelin XM2 195/70 14 on the Prestige and can't fault them.

The Alfa 147 wheels I have seen fitted to a few CXs are 16".

Thanks for the Feedback and, especial thanks for the pictures. I had thought that those were the ones. Doing a rolling restoration so, want it to have the correct wheels .

You won't want the correct wheels when you see the price of TRX tyres I suggest 14" wheels that look pretty much the same would be a better option

Shane got it right, the 14" on mine look just like the originals;previously had a 85 gti and sourced the 14s for it. My 85 pallas came already fitted with the 14s,Andy

Yep, mine should have those lovely looking "T" turbo wheels..... My father chucked them when he bought the car in the UK because the tyres were way to expensive. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy under tired with 14" rubber under it though. It's good with modern 16" sticky rubber under it though.

The cost of 390mm tyres is why original Jag XJ40 rims are worth no more than scrap. Everyone replaces them with 15 inch rims that look very similar. It's surprising that PSA didn't think back to why they changed from 400mm to 15 inch D rims all those years back.

sounds like I had better go with what I have - they were probably changed because of the tyres

... or find some Alfa rims, which widens your style and tyre choices.

There the only nice after market wheels I've seen on a CX. The suite that car perfectly (other than the aftermarket ones on mine of course. ).

CX's look plain wrong with fussy "flashy" looking cheap chinese alloys fitted to them. They belong on commonbores and Hi-undi's not CX's

I would have loved that option for my CX- the 164 wheels look great but are difficult to find as a set, and TRX tires at 500.00 a pop forced me to look for some new-very old-stock ones that had lots of tread, but not much shelf life left.

Those look pretty good on the car. I would hold off on wheels and tires until you really have to.

    WRB,

did you buy this CX recently? Looks fantastic. Although the current wheels are not too offensive a nice clean refurbished set of CX 14" would be best. I'm sure some AF here could offer spares?

Yep, I agree that they suit the car very nicely. I was thinking of painting the car as the final part in the rolling resto but, I don't think the wheels will stand out so well in another colour. I will photoshop the image trying out different colours but, in the end, I will end I will probably go for a re-paint
