Default 4 Digit code for new keys

    Hi
I have an 06 C5 with only 1 key , no 4 digit code ( or spare key) in any documents that came with car when purchased.
Dealer has tried previous owner - no luck on locating.

Citroen Brisbane has quoted about $400 for a new key .
The mechanic who did the gearbox rebuild for me said he can do a new key if had the code, which I don`t.

Can I request the local dealership/Citroen Aus. to supply the code for no charge as I am the new owner?

The mechanic - a legend in my eyes, who will get anything I need fixing from now with both our cars.
If you live in Brisbane and want the name of a Euro car expert especially the French ones PM/Email me .
    cheers

Why can this legend not get the code? Even from overseas, the cost is small.

Have you tried Jacksons locksmiths, They can replicate some electronic keys.

    Giordano,

All a citroen agent needs is your VIN to get the security code and key code so Auto Midi Lorient should be able to do that . Your service agent will need this code to put in his Lexia or equivalent to refresh the transponder codes in all the keys you have when your new key arrives. It will not work immediately. Then you need to follow the instructions in the handbook to get the remote locking to sync into the BSI.

Have I got that all correct folks?

    Cheers,

    Ken W

In the past, I've just sent the VIN to Guillaume at Midi, the factory can work out the keys from there. They still need coding in once arrived. I've not asked for the "code securitť" so don't know if they would release it - maybe only verbally.

    Hi all

I was about to ask a similar question myself, but also including where to buy a new key complete with electronics..the ones on ebay all seem to be just shells..

Hope this doesn't hijack the thread...

BTW my horse is a 03 Xsara, but I think in principle amounts to the same problem...ie one flick out key ...not good if I lose it....
