    Default Car Expense Spreadsheet

    Hi all,

Decided this year I would keep a track of my car expenses. Worked on a Numbers template and thought I would share the end result with anyone interested on the forum.

Spreadsheet works on iMac, iPad and iPhone.

File can be downloaded from my dropbox:

you've got 3 Citroens and you want to know how much they really truly cost you?
    are you sure about this...?

I was all set to take a Prius C as a company car earlier this year until I did the sums. After tax it worked out to $287 a fortnight, so now that goes into a separate bank account for everything to do with my car (tolls, petrol, servicing, everything). I've run the Clio off it for 9 months, plus saved $2300 which has just been splashed on a one owner 1998 Mitsubishi Magna Advance and getting it on the road.

It's not as advanced as the spreasheet but having all my expenses come out of the one account gives a really good idea of how much I spend on the car. And despite two services (and two other visits to the mechanic), it's surprisingly less than I feared.

    Hi Adrian,
Its not an excel document, it is a 'Numbers' document so you need Numbers on a Mac, iPad or iPhone to use it. I'll have a look at exporting an excel template if possible and get back to you.

Note: it is in iWork '09 version 2.3 format which can be opened in the newer version of numbers.

    Cheers

All you need to do is select "save as excel document".

Very few people except avid mac users will be able to open a dedicated apple format "spread sheet".

Online conversion can happen here: NUMBERS to XLS | Zamzar - Free online file conversion

However I won't let out my email for endless spam purposes.

There is a point where it all becomes too hard to open the file.

Sadly just exporting to excel format either from Numbers or by using an online converter will not result in a fully functional spreadsheet in this case. The individual frames will be placed on different sheets, Pop-Up menus are not supported, some of the floating comments will be removed and not all the formulas will function.
As stated earlier, 'Numbers' works on the iPhone and iPad (and is a free app).
At least all the 680 students I teach (and their families) would be able to open this spreadsheet on their iPads.

I will look at creating an excel version in the next few days and post that to the forum.

    Cheers,
    Pop-up
