    Default BX hydraulic pump needed

Chasing a pump. Particularly those in the Gold Coast - Brisbane area. Will pay $.

Does anyone know what causes them to start rattling loudly once revs are above 2000? No noticeable noise at idle. Still pumps up the car but it does seem fractionally less responsive in steering and rear suspension.

Can they be rebuilt at home?

Are you certain there is no air leak in the pickup line? That might cause extra noise and poor performance.

No I'm not certain. But I'm certainly going out right now to have a look.

Check the tension on the pump belt as it needs to be REAL tight.

What sort of fluid are you using..I have a theory that they start rattling like a bucket of hammers if you use an auto transmission fluid.. I had a rebuilt pump and low km pumps go more rattly after I started using an ATF..

And not sure if its my imagination but other pumps I've had seemed to get noisier with ATF.. I always got excited by the possibility that it may be just air in the system, but never to any avail.. all connections tight.. same din..air should not get trapped as it will naturally purge itself if all air ingress is sealed...

The worse offender is the GT that, as you describe, rattles terribly at about 2000rpm..let me know if you find a magic pill..

Ok ok who's got the red face. Er an interesting question but the fluid is LHM. Only replaced about 4 months ago. Turns out it is the bearing in the tensioner pulley. Bit of grease and it will be good for a while. Any one got a spare pulley?
