Default C5 x7 gas lift strut popped out, help required.

    Morning guys

Another disater has happened, the left side gas strut has burst off the boot lid end while a was transporting a heavy sander going round a corner, resulting in the boot being very heavy when lifting & closing, I have tried to re assembly the ball back onto the cup of the strut but it would seem that the strut needs to be push into itself the get this to happen, any help to get it operational would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

There should be a point of opening where the strut is fully extended. That is the point where you probably need to get the strut to line up with its connection point.

Thanks UFO tried that, opened the boot as far as possible but the cup & ball still don't line up enough to put it back in, thats why I need to somehow force in the strut slightly.

    Cheers

Got it sorted guys, just had to remove the 2 rubber stops from each hinge so that the boot moved enough to replace the ball onto the cup or vice a versa, then used circlip pliers to pry open the clip to secure the strut into position.

    Thanks.
