    Default Introduction: New Citroen Owner

    Hi Everyone,

Thought I'd better introduce myself, in Adelaide and just bought a 1974 Citroen D Special.

It has been relatively unused for about 15-20 years and we have just begun a complete restoration job.

This is our first Citroen and we love it!

    Hi Rob,

Very pleased to meet you! No, it isn't the white one from car sales - I missed out as that went quickly. Mine is ivory and it's from Highbury, by way of Blackwood.

At the moment we are working on rust in the panels before we begin the mechanical work.

How long have you had yours?

I know of two sitting in a garage in Glenunga/Glenside. They look like fairly reasonable restoration projects...

Might see if they want to sell one with the aim to have it in SA as a long term project!

Hi, I too saw the white one on Carsales, sent two emails but he didn't even bother to reply so a friend in the area called round but it was long gone.
I've had 8 DS's over the years and have a hankering to be a 'custodian' in my retirement. If you know of any restorable models, not too fussy as long as the situation is retrievable, let me know. I'm prepared to go to SA and look, maybe drive back if OK or transport if not.

Hi Iain, I spoke to the vendor (he only responded to text messages) and the car was sold pretty much immediately. I'm a bit too new to the scene to advise on any other available restorable models for sale in SA but if I hear of any I will let you know.

    Hi Brian
did you include me in that invite to JFO to discuss your shed full of DS's? I've got a lonely, empty shed and it needs a star, or should I say a double chevron.

Thanks JFO, I suspect he was deluged with calls. Pity, it looked exactly what I was after, and registered and roadworthy too.
Keep your eyes open, the hankering for custodianship gets stronger by the day.

I need to throw my hat in the ring as a seriously interested bystander if you get anywhere with these two ( or even one). It means moving it to Victoria, I hope that's not too offensive.

You don't know many Citroen owners :rolfmao: You'll probably find the cars aren't for sale, but the owner that's had them for years and views them through rose tinted glasses thinks there now worth at least $500,000
