Hey Guys! Check this out. It is almost comical the way that the workers approach the tasks. No other production line of any other car would have personnel man handling the body shells like this!

Yah, I've seen that one a couple of times. Almost reminds me of the joke about my uncle: he's a diesel fitter at the local woman's undergarment factory. As the panties come off the line, he picks a pair up, and holds them against a sizing chart. If they look OK, he proclaims........."Yep! Dees'le fit her!"

I have seen that video before as well. I liked the bit where they dunked the whole car in a tub of seawater before painting it so that it would start to rust from Day One. That bit of paper that the workman placed on the firewall was NOT a quality control list, but rather the Joke of the Day. This kept the workforce happy, and a happy workforce makes for a happy car, which a deuche definately is.

It appears that the Just-In-Time ordering system was running behind time as the workman that "drove" the car around the U turn to travel the opposite way along the assembly line, only had one steering wheel, which he took from car to car.

Although the production line seemed to be full of red cars, only a white car was seen to actually drive off.

That video definately belongs to the Charlie Chaplin section of any respectable video library.

That is fantastic. I haven't seen before so thanks for sharing. For mine nothing seems to stir motoring passion quite like the 2CV.

For sure the Benny Hill theme song would have been more appropriate.

The cars certainly were "hands on" to make back then. No wonder 2cvs are so easy to work on ..... People rather than machines assembled the bloody things, which means mere mortals can disassemble them with resorting to sledge hammers, cutting torches and finally TNT in exasperation like the modern PSA made merde

I'd have thought something from a Jacques Tatti film instead. "Jour du Fete" or "Mon Oncle" for example.

Having worked on the production line at Renault Heidelberg I can see where the management stole it's assembly techniques from!
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............
