    Default The BX appreciation thread

I thought I'd be the first to initiate a BX appreciation thread as I believe that they are a modern day classic. As with both the DS, CX and GS they were once derided and the centre of old iron ridicule, I believe that before the end of petroleum the BX will take its rightful place in the Citroen anthology.

We are lucky enough here in Australia to have examples that are dry and rot free...unlike the UK where even the best examples have "patina" on their undersides...

It should be pointed out that the BX was Citroens most successful model and as such staved off imminent bankruptcy of the company..

We are currently wrecking the BX as fast as we did the DS back in the 80's, and usually for simple leak back hose issues.

Yes the MK2's lack the character of the MK1's but I can imagine that the same would have been said when the DS went from its sculptured early dashes of the ID to when they went to fitting the more conventional 3 round Jaeger dials...("thats not a real Citroen")

    Anyway its all just perspective

and I dont imagine that there will be a flood of BX appreciation thread posts but I'm putting it here for future purposes if you will...

Yes but its title is typically self deprecating...

And also inaccurate, as there is no depreciation left to be suffered on the BX..

    Lets start afresh shall we?

it was named that way as a tongue in cheek joke as all the other models were getting appreciation threads

and as most Pre PSA Citroen owners make jokes about the BX not being a real Citroen i felt it suitably funny and appropriate to name the thread thus

if you read the thread properly you will realise that it is a thread full of BX lovers sharing the joy and humour of owning a BX

Well I guess I'll have "my" thread all to myself then because I am humuorless and don't want to post in the other thread with negative overtones..

You're downunder- down is up, up is down, negative is positive...for the BX the only way is up! The next step is a Xantia...

I've never had a BX, but I did test drive one new. On the other hand I've never paid more than $800 for a running car and that was a 604.
