Hi all would like to know the best way to clean and restore the aluminium hydraulic pipes. Started to re assemble the car back to get it on the road.
Any helpful hints or cleaning tips would be appreciated.

For a start the pipes are not aluminium. They are a composite metal, mostly steel and have a protective coating on them ( the metalurgical gurus will tell you the exact composition). If you polish through this coat by aggressive buffing they will rust. If they are in good order just wash them with a solvent and wipe them with a rag until the built up muck comes off. If they show areas of abrasion or rust replace them.

It is a special tool to form the union flare for the pipe seal. It is not just an ordinary double flare as found on most cars brake lines.
