Default CX and XM manual gearboxes the same?

Can someone enlighten me on CX and XM manual gearboxes? Are they the same basic unit? That is, are the motors interchangeable between the two (interfaces between motor and bell-housing or bell-housing and gearbox), and/or engine mounts?

And if so, are the gear ratios and final drives interchangeable?

There were several different gearboxes used in the XM, depending on the engine and model year. The ME5T may have been common to some CX and some XM's, but manual versions of either model are unusual in Australia, let alone as donors. You need to narrow it down a bit.

I'd be guessing XM would be closer to BX/306/405 but not CX.

Thanks David, I will check which is in it.

Do you know if there are any 2.1 or 2.5 lt diesel motors for XM's in Oz? I would like to put one in a 5 speed manual?

It would be very much easier to buy the 2.5TD manual XM in the for sale section. It's not even expensive.

The Dťesse has all the characteristics of one of those objects fallen from another universe that fed the mania for novelty in the eighteenth century and a similar mania expressed by modern science fiction: the Dťesse is first and foremost the new Nautilus.

Isn't he in Albury and asking about bits 'in Oz'? Much easier to find donors in Europe. Also a good selection of 2.5TD manuals I'd expect.

Thanks David. Maybe I am very thick but I cannot for the life of me find this sales section! Can you tell me how to locate it?

Computer challenged I am, but I found the sales section by searching on the google search function, which sounds unusual to me. I think it would be much more intuitive to have a "Sales" page, or have I missed something? I will certainly check this out.

And no, at this stage I will keep my cars in Oz, although I may buy one from France to drive here someday, if I stay for much longer. If you want to attract the attention of girls here, there is no way like owning a (big) car!
