    Default GS Break Resto

Time to start new thread. Nothing worse than having to go to a 'page 2'.

Question please Brains Trust - will a GSA 1300 oil filter be suitable for a GS 1220?

Photo below of faded indicator glass on tail lights. Bought some amber brush-on lens & bulb dye. Not super happy with result, but GS goes in Tues for inspection. I'm taking a few shortcuts just to get it looking a little blinged (even got some tyre black). Mate haven't used that stuff since late '70s knocking around in panel vans.

Order from Franzosische still hasn't arrived so gotta take contingent action. Whipped the broken dull chrome bits off the grill to take the edge off. All going well, pick up car from panel beater mate tomorrrow. Around to car wash with degreaser and gentle hose down of those nasty 1220 oil tell tales. Please, please be careful not to stuff anything in the process and I promise not to use high pressure steam on sensitive bits. Also picture of chook shed I'm upgrading as this resto transpires (there's rationale for this).

As far as I know they share the same oil filter. There is also a RYCO filter which'll fit a GS if you're really hard pressed.

The colour on the lenses has come up pretty well. Nice and even. Am I mistaken, or does that chook shed look about GS sized...?

Very astute of you Ste. The seal on the deal for me to acquire the GS was to free up the car shed and make room for another Cit. Therefore, the chook shed is getting a facelift to act as storage. I'm thinking more like putting an arm chair in there and getting stuck into some Hemmingway, Joyce or Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning French etc.

On a more serious note. Is someone able to advise on the little space, on my newly Germany-acquired steering wheel, that is probably intended for a couple of Chevrons? Anyone out there got a spare one of those little metal emblems?
As seen in photos, old wheel had a cover which concealed the sins of age.

Yes, it should have silver chevrons with a yellowing plastic coating on top. Rarely do you find steering wheels with the emblem in tact. I may have a spare. I shall rummage through my GS parts and get back to you.

Geez, I have never seen a steering wheel in such poor condition, on any make of car. Looks like someone set fire to it.

Looks very similar to the wheel off my 2cv before I changed. Looked like it had been sun baking at Chernobyl or ***ushima. You can imagine it looking like one of those sick pics the put on cigarette packs these days!!

I reckon the lights have come up looking good Sparkey.

qmusic, I guess the tail lights look OK and you wouldn't notice if you rode by on a bucking horse, but they look a little spewy to me. When I've recovered from the shock of the cost of my mild resto, may lash out on a Ä39 replacement.
As (I assume a muso) you would appreciate, in the words of Cher 'If I could turn back time', would love to bought more stuff off Citro motors when he closed. But it was like buying cows in the moonlight when I went there on spec (not really knowing what I needed prior to the mechanics inspection).
Watch your horoscope, I may have news for you soon.
