Sad sight. Who left this GS on the Gunbarrel Hwy and when?

Probably won't have a lot of rust in that desert climate-----who is going to save its life?

    That'll buff out. /obligatory

Actually, compared with some of the abject wrecks I've seen brought back to life, this one doesn't look bad. At least you have more to work with than a VIN plate and a crumpled fender.
The measure of your character isn't what you do when people are watching- it's what you do when they aren't watching.

So that's the legendary Gun Barrel highway eh?...does'nt quite live up to it's name does it?
Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.

That looks like a 1990's era onwards Citroen Car Club of Queensland sticker on the rear quarter window. If it was a vinyl roof (can't determine on my little screen) then it may be a car I knew where the vinyl was added after a hail storm.
Has a 2CV RAID been that way? If so, it was probably a participant that got abandoned as a result of a mechanical failure, when they were allowing the GS as an air-cooled to tag along but no-one had the spares the 2CVs were carrying to keep it going. A different GS got abandoned on another RAID, iirc.

Being a GS maybe it is worth the drive for the Gearbox? Or more than likely it is stuffed too!

Was only driven on Sundays by a lady owner, the church was 423 kms away and on this forgetful Sunday she was carrying way too many sandwiches and a bottle of Gin. The Gin was just to much for the car to handle.

I am reliably informed that the gearbox and motor went to a very good cause and it was a 1300cc unit from my workshop to that car then to a sidewinder
The car lost its rear subframe during a raid
