    Default CITRO Motors garage sale

Just been to Smith Street Collingwood and bought some bits and pieces from Mel Carey who is shutting the doors of Citro at the end of March, not negotiable, the property has been sold.

He asked me if I could place a notice on the AussieFrogs forum to let people know that EVERYTHING is for sale

he has parts for 2CV, Traction [4 & 6], ID and DS, CX, BX and so on, new old stock and s/h

It is 100% cash and carry, strictly cash, take it now, get it out the door

whatever is not taken and sold will have to go to the scrap metal merchant

I saw new still in factory wax Traction gearbox internals.... lights, spheres, pumps, switches, motors and driveshafts etc etc for every model from the 50's to now

special tools all to go including factory Traction hub pullers and ball joint splitters etc etc

hoists, cranes, hand tools.... the lot

also manuals, books, posters... the entire kit and caboodle

    first in best dressed

no phone orders or requests, he is on his own and still working on a few cars while cleaning up

    Good luck, spread the word

Sad to hear that. Old Bruno used to look after my DS in the 1980's. Citro's been a Fitzroy "landmark" for decades.

It will be sad to see the building ... which I understand was purpose built as a garage ... turned into apartments which I assume is what is happening to it.

    Default End of an era.

I dropped in today, there is plenty of bits and pieces left, I suspect Saturday is going to be a big day. Anyone looking for GS, DS or CX parts, this could be some of the last original old stock around. Take cash!

Thank goodness I have an over-abundance of parts I'll never need already.

The workshop photo is remarkably different to what I'm used to seeing in Brisbane!

I picked up a starter motor and drivers side window mechanism (Murphy's law dictates that won't be the first to go).

Saw brand new D bumper over riders & stacks of little stuff in little drawers.

so after a weekend of picking and fossicking by the great unwashed - thanx michael - i dropped in this afternoon on the way home

    it looks just like before!y

ou lot hardly made a dent in it

    try harder!

still mountains of new old stock and second hand parts, special tools, manuals etc

i guess you could wait till the death to try to get things really cheap

but meanwhile Mel is chucking stuff into the skip and sending it off to scrap

so anyone with anything they think they might ever want....

    well, you know the drill.

I went Saturday, Mel was helpful to find what I was after, but no bargain prices I'm afraid, I think he was still stubbornly holding out for his retail prices. Good luck with that!

I am just home from a day trip to Melbourne for some meetings. I saved the best until last, a visit to Mel. Staggering out after more than two hours fossicking, I came away with a stack of manuals at least 2 feet high, a small tub of handy early D parts and a marvellous though shabby poster showing a diagrammatic representation of the complete hydraulic system of an early DS19. The price I paid seemed quite reasonable, though Mel initially asked more than double what I eventually paid. The stuff I bought had a pretty small market. I think if you want stuff that everyone else wants as well, you will have to pay a good price. But everything else will be good value. There is still plenty left!

I want the BX Bathurst poster in the picture. I have one of the McLeod cars and this would go great in the workshop. Anyone willing to go get it for me? Please
Am unable to find their phone number; anyone help?
    Cheers
