Default 1969 DS21 BVH for sale in USA

Yes guys, it is LHD in California. Don't get too excited!

I noticed a link to this in a Yahoo group from Julian Marsh. It is listed on the Citronet site.

    http://www.citroenet.org.uk/advertis...onfond/rb.html

I think it deserves a thread of it's own as I am sue it will attract a lot of comment. There are lots interesting details and of course it is a highly desirable BVH with the lovely dashboard. It also has AC, with the compressor on the left hand side and alternator on the right! ( and later A/C bumper bars) Note the modified rear bumper to clear the Californian plate. And why does the passenger front door (RHS) appear to have a locking snib ??

Oh, and someone will go crazy over the colour!

    Details, details

    It's a good one.
I know the owner quite well. A champion bloke who knows his Ds.

    Shame it's a left hooker.
Hotrodelectric, DaffyDuck and Citroenfan could tell you all about it.

Rear bumper is a US feature.
Locking snibs were some federally mandated bullschit in late 1969 and 1970. They were a complete PITA. You never knew when the doors were locked, or when you were going to be locked out because somebody turned one of those. As a rule on those things: Do not touch them!

I have seen this car. It is quite nice.
The paint work was done by perhaps the best body shop (That deals with Citroens) in the western United States.

Thanks Mr. Duck. I had not seen those snibs... more federal idiocy again eh? The rear bumper is a little reminiscent of an Italian solution, but much better done for the US to my mind.

I saw the Yahoo groups lit up with the news of this sale.

    Prakesh reported:

"I just talked to the co-editor of the Citro√ęnvie as this DS is advertised for sale in the magazine, the last time that I had looked at the magazine' s market place, the price was $75K.
I was told that this DS has had all work done very professionally at a cost of over $100K, also an eye witness have said that he had seen this car in person 2 years ago in California and it really is a beautiful car, only now the price have been dropped to $55k"

Also a note from John Titus re the unusual placement of the compressor.:

"That was the conventional setup for the "California Coil." Alternator is driven using a very small diameter pulley using a belt from one of the HP pump sheaves. This allowed the pump to be mounted without the special casting on the transmission. Richards car has the fenderwell condensers, which suggests it was upgraded at some point. "
