I'd wager that wreckers don't sell many C4 gloveboxes, so you shouldn't pay much for a complete unit.

I'll bet your wrong.... Apparently quite expensive to fix, and quite common. Stuff can drop into the hinge area. If you close the lid against anything you break them. It's a great design as you have to replace the lot to fix it so it make citroen dealers a lot of money

ebay uk has them for 100quid new:

Can you believe, I had - and threw out - a C3 glovebox, brand new?

For that sort of money I'd take the glovebox lid and inner to my local plastic welder. It's probably PE or PP so will stitch back together reasonably.

this is the most common fault with the c4
did exactly the same after 24hours of ownership in 06
look at c4owners.org for the best and cheapest fixes unless your vehicle is under warranty of course

the glove box for the c4 is what is known as a token gesture.Keep nothing bulky or expensive in it!!!!!

having said that I love My C4 faults and all

Hang on. "Threw out" and "brand new"? I have one or two BX ones I'll never need....

Common problem. Expect a $500+ bill at full retail. Any wrecker will know it's a common fault and charge accordingly. If you put somethging large on the left side of the glovebox and slam/force it closed, the hinge will pop out at the bottom and the lid is misaligned, jamming the catch. So, avoid forcing it closed.

Whether you can fix it depends on whether you've just broken the handle off the catch or have ruined the catch in the process. If the catch no longer moves freely or the spring no longer works, look for another lid. If you have simply snapped off the handle, then you can either fit a long self-tapper or try to attach the handle again. As mentioned by don, there's a good writeup on it at the UK C4 Owners website.

Go to a Bunnings store and purchase a MAGNETIC cupboard latch and 'graft' it in to suit...works a treat!

    Default Glovebox Fix Tutorial

    Hi,

When we bought our C4 I searched around for common faults and how to fix them and I saved the Glovebox Fix Tutorial from c4owners.org.
I have not had to use the tutorial myself but thought it may be useful for you.

Incase you didn't find it already, here is the c4owners tutorial i used to fix my glovebox. Its been working perfectly for the past year and is completely hidden (no need to mention it when selling in the future

    http://c4owners.org/plugins/faq/faq.php?0.cat.2.185

from what i remember, you just need a drill, small drillbit and a couple self tapper screws
